The Company

This company already organises around 150 events and is now responding to demand from global organisations (largely in the oil and gas industry) to stage their events in various parts of the world.  There is a clear opportunity to take on more not only in oil and gas but other key markets.

Requirements for the role of Head of Business Development

Our client is looking for someone to win these events and the right person is likely to be:

• A superb networker who can develop business relationships easily
• Able to put a decent bid together
• Able to demonstrate outstanding achievement in developing new business from scratch
• Impressive and compelling at delivering presentations to groups of senior executives
• Knowledgeable of the key ingredients of a successful event

Naturally, you will be expected to have the usual qualities and skills of a successful leader to get the best out of your fulfilment team, and you must have the communication skills to ensure that the board and your colleagues are fully engaged.  Once achieved, you will be limited only by the extent of your diligence and ambition.

You will have the support of others around you and the success of the department will depend on your ability to unearth opportunities and win tenders.

This role requires extensive overseas travel, often at short notice, depending on where the next major congress is due to take place or where the latest steering committee briefing has been scheduled.
