Advertising Operations Director

The AdVICE Network is a collection of leading online publishers with passionate and influential audiences. We make it possible for brands to reach multiple key demographics through a single, finely-tuned mega-network; including a gang of industry and opinion leading sites like The Quietus, Londonist, Lookbook and many more.

VICE is seeking an experienced Advertising Operations Director who will to cover the following areas:

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing an internal UK campaign manager and acting as point of contact for all EMEA traffickers, helping to resolve and operational and technical issues that arise across the VICE and AdVice network
  • Working closely with the CTO and development team, gathering industry information and consistently being on top of digital operational updates and specifications for company developments
  • Working with external publishers and 3rd parties to test and implement new technologies that may be relevant to the business development of the company
  • Providing data to sales, production and marketing departments across various European regions in a timely and accurate manner
  • Working with sales planners, accounts and publishers to ensure smooth delivery from start to finish, of all network campaigns across the AdVice network and AdPoint booking system
  • Making certain all campaigns are running on schedule and optimised
  • Monitoring and helping correct any delivery or inventory issues

1. Execute interactive advertising campaigns using the Open Ad Stream ad management platform

  • Interface with AdPoint to manage Insertion Orders and workflow
  • Interface with Open Ad Stream/DFP to maintain the network database and rich media templates. Upload creative and schedule runs for campaigns
  • Perform quality assurance tests on advertising material to ensure advertising content is ready for upload on the server

2. Manage Open Ad Stream/DFP to ensure campaign delivery and advertiser goals are being fulfilled as scheduled across EMEA regions

  • Rack and report on advertising activities as requested by advertisers and sales team
  • Provide access or distribute campaign delivery reports
  • Attend weekly sales meetings for campaign review and audit
  • Optimize and make changes to campaigns in flight when necessary, working closely with Sales and AdVice Planners to ensure deliverables are met

3. Support EMEA advertising sales, developers and accounting teams with day to day operational concerns

  • Assist in maintaining and communication of specs to sales, clients and agencies with excellent support services
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation and resources for internal ops team and sales team
  • Keep current on advertising requirements and trafficking process for the VICE and AdVICE sites

4. Partner with sales team, site production & development, pricing & inventory, and marketing teams to optimize campaign performance based on client goals

  • Operate as liaison for advertising operations department with sales teams, client and agencies (if applicable) to ensure best ad placement
  • Advise on practices and best practice in relation to the business development as needed 

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Must have solid experience with online ad serving systems, specifically Open Ad Stream, Doubleclick For Publishers for all standard, Network and Mobile modules in both systems.
  • Preferable experience in running an digital advertising network 
  • Responsibilities will be many and varied, so the candidate should have good flexibility and willingness to pick up and run with work and proactively add ideas and innovation to the VICE business
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to converse with site publishers, developers and well as account executives and clients/agencies
  • Capacity for meticulous review of campaign data in auditing and data entry
  • Client Services focus
  • Ability to handle heavy workload, mediating many demands and requests with strong problem solving drive
  • Demonstrated excellent computer skills, interest in new digital media and technologies. Must have knowledge of:
  • HTML, XHTML, CSS, XML, Javascript
  • Adobe Flash CS5, Photoshop CS5, Media Encoder CS5
  • Ooyala, Brightcove, PreviewNetworks CMS
  • Must have experience of Adpoint and have worked in the UK, US and Australia in a branded content, digital environment.
