What is the role?
At The Wall Street Journal, our clients and media partners are increasingly turning to us for much more than advertising, including full marketing and communications support and inspiration. The role of the business development team is twofold – to add media expertise on multi-media proposals, and to look for additional revenue opportunities outside of traditional channels.
The business development team works closely with our sales team and the position requires a great deal of flexibility covering creative thinking, delivery of strategic advertising solutions, writing and presenting proposals, design and research. However, what is most critical to the position is the ability to think around problems and be proactive and entrepreneurial.
The executive will work closely with the sales team to deliver excellent sales support through proposals and marketing collateral, and provide product marketing support for the suite of Europe products - both digital and print.

What is my personal contribution?
-Developing and executing new initiatives to support revenue growth in print and digital to ensure that business objectives are met, eg) focusing on new ideas to grow revenue for challenged sectors.
-Proactively providing strategic and operative leadership – managing responses to proposals from sales teams and coordinating ideas and responses from product managers across the portfolio.
-Working closely with the sales teams to identify and implement new sales initiatives
-Contributing to the RFP process by working closely with sales and marketing teams – managing the flow of information and articulating the proposal in a clear and cohesive fashion
-To produce consistently high standard proposals to maximize revenue for all DJ products.
-Strong media and marketing background – print and digital experience essential
-The ability to turn ideas and concepts into compelling, creative and relevant executions
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proven experience of managing multiple stakeholders needs at one time
-Creative thinking and flexible approach to projects
-Proven record of developing and executing strategic initiatives
-Ability to focus and prioritize under tight deadlines
-Excellent attention to detail
-Proactively identifying new business initiatives and moving these forward
-Strong teamwork ethic
