Overview of Role
As digital display advertising trading is increasingly performed through powerful automated systems, private marketplace trading and real-time bidding (RTB) are seeing widespread adoption and are expected to grow dramatically over the coming years.

The programmatic trading manager role both shapes and implements the programmatic trading strategy for the digital platforms of News International’s titles (The Sun, The Times, The Sunday Times), as well as oversees the day-to-day management and optimization of the platform. He/She holds the vendor relationships on the technology side and evangelises the opportunities and adoption with agencies’ trading desks.

This role is pivotal in delivering News International’s adoption of “Programmatic Premium” that will enable us to make premium audience and inventory segments programmatically available in the market, and will report jointly into the Head of News and the Commercial Products Group.

The ideal applicant will have a keen understanding of the digital ad tech ecosystem, have experience working with the big SSP technologies in the marketplace (e.g. Rubicon’s REVV, AdX/AdMeld), and has a clear understanding about the opportunities and pitfalls for publishers in the areas of programmatic trading.

Responsibilities
● Implement and execute against the Programmatic Premium strategy for News International
● Responsible for the optimization, management, and revenue delivery of the programmatic monetization of discretionary inventory across the News International publisher network
● Responsible for the optimization, management, and revenue delivery of other programmatic revenue systems across our digital properties (e.g. AdSense, Outbrain, Skimlinks, etc.)
● Holds key vendor relationships and is instrumental in selecting and onboarding new systems and solutions in the automated trading area

● This role reports to the Sales Director through the Head of News, and has dotted-line reporting into the Commercial Products group

Required Skills and Experiences
● Understanding of the ad tech ecosystem
● In-depth knowledge of digital display advertising
● Experience managing SSP (preferred Rubicon, AdX) 
● Solid understanding of audience segmentation and targeting
● Experience working with agency trading desks
