Job Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Manager to join the C&IT and Event sales team.  The role requires a strong sales person to work across all the brand extensions for C&IT and Event.  In addition to managing key accounts, the Commercial manager will have direct line management responsibility for the sales team.

Through a consultative selling approach you will manage and grow key existing accounts.  Key to the role will also be to seek and develop new business opportunities.  You will frequently be out and about on meetings with your clients, also meeting key players within the industry at awards, events and conferences.  The role requires an individual with a real ‘can-do’ attitude who will successfully sell across the breadth of the C&IT and Event portfolio inclusive of:  digital solutions, forums, awards, print display and sponsorship as well as creative bespoke solutions for individual clients.  The Commercial Manager will be responsible for some UK and International business – some travel will be required.  As the role is very target driven, selling across both brands and numerous products, you will be able to demonstrate a confident and mature approach, working well under pressure.  Digital is key to the brands’ strategy and you will demonstrate strong knowledge of commercial digital capabilities and have ideas to bring to the table.  

As well as having excellent account management skills, the role requires some Project Management.  The Commercial Manager will project manage some of our key products i.e. the forums.  The role requires an individual who is able to work well with other members of our team, the editorial team, our awards team, forums team, production etc, to project manage successfully.

Day to day you will be responsible for the smooth running of the sales team.  You will work with other members of the team to develop business opportunities; you will develop our sales stars of the future, and be a proven sales leader.  Reporting to the Sales Director, you will have experience of working with budgets and targets and will ensure all projects and products are as profitable as possible.    

The ideal candidate will be a Sales Manager / Advertising Manager with experience of managing a team, with a consultative and strategic sales approach, looking for a new challenge.  You will have proven experience of managing people, networking, meetings, attending exhibitions and getting your face and name out into the industry.  You will be keen to attend events (some of which could be outside core working hours) and meet your clients.
