You’ll help them use the Spiceworks innovative social business platform to take their marketing initiatives (and bottom line!) to the next level.    Who we are: Spiceworks, an 8 year-old Austin-based startup, is transforming how tech products (hardware, software and IT services) are marketed and sold to over 5 million SMB IT pros around the world. The UK is our second biggest market, where you would play a key role! Over 2,000 new users join Spiceworks for free each day. How do we keep IT free? Over 3,000 tech brands (including Microsoft, Dell, HP and Rackspace) advertise in Spiceworks to reach these IT pros. Since SMB IT pros have historically been a tough market to reach, vendors love the unique ways Spiceworks helps them reach this elusive market… so much so that Forbes touted us “the future of media”!  

Your day-to-day:

  • Seek out and find new prospects and business opportunities to cultivate into paying clients
  • Work with our market intelligence team to understand your prospects’ business challenges
  • Devise and pitch sales proposals that speak to client needs
  • Work on a team with great sales people where you’ll receive ongoing support and training
  • Locate and contact potential clients in order to offer advertising and marketing services
  • Obtain and study information about client products, needs, problems, advertising history, and business practices in order to offer effective sales presentations and proposals
  • Prepare and deliver sales presentations to new and existing customers to drive new business as well as protect and increase existing advertising
  • Educate customers how specific types of advertising will help promote their products or services in the most effective way possible
  • Gather all relevant material for bid processes and coordinate bidding and contract approval
  • Provide clients with estimates of the costs of advertising products or services
  • Draw up contracts for advertising work and collect payments due
  • Consult with both clients directly and advertising agencies in order to develop effective promo plans for your clients
  • Attend sales meetings, industry trade shows, and training seminars in order to gather information, promote products, expand network of contacts, and increase knowledge

Qualifications: What does it take to do this job?

  • B2B media sales experience, preferably online
  • Proficiency in structuring and closing complex deals with multiple variables
  • Strong analytical, organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Strategic, sophisticated deal planning and negotiation skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced sales environment
  • Track record of success in a start-up or fast-growth environment a major plus
  • Maniacal self-motivation, time management skills, and personal accountability
  • Collaborative, team-player attitude
