The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents is the UK’s family safety charity, with a mission to save lives and reduce injuries. We have been at the heart of accident prevention in the UK and around the world for nearly 100 years, helping people to live their lives to the full while staying safe in the home, on the road, at work, during leisure activities and in schools and colleges.

We respond to thousands of media enquiries each year and we also communicate directly with members of the public, policy-makers and professionals via our websites, journals and social media. We have bold plans for taking our communications to the next level, and are also gearing up to mark our centenary in 2016-17 - it’s an exciting time!

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Media & PR Officer* (salary £24k - £26k) with a proactive attitude to engaging the public at large in our life-saving subject. You will plan, deliver and monitor a comprehensive communications programme across broadcast, print and social media. Working closely with other members of RoSPA’s strategic communications team, such as marketing and campaigns/fundraising colleagues, you will ensure that our charity’s profile is raised as high as possible and that our reputation is protected and enhanced in the public arena.

You should have a flair for producing engaging material in a variety of styles, from punchy social media content to 2,500-word features for a professional audience - and everything in between!

Excellent written English, an eye for detail and accuracy and the ability to work in a dynamic environment and to tight deadlines are crucial.

Applicants must have at least two years' relevant professional experience, demonstrating strong technical and planning skills.

* For candidates not yet ready for a senior role, we may also consider appointing at the level of Media & PR Officer, for which the salary range would be £20k - £22k.
