What does a Media Planner do?

A Media Planner looks at ensuring the right media is being used to get the best impact for a client's advertising. This includes outdoor, TV, radio and press advertising. The role is increasingly combined with the role of media buyer, who purchases the slots for advertisers, but in some of the larger agencies the roles are still kept separate. Media Planners often begin as Media Planner trainees before progressing to a Senior Media Planner role. Career progression often takes in the roles of Media Manager and Account Director.
